Chief Executive Officer: Willem Groenewald

Willem Groenewald is the Chief Executive Officer of the Automobile Association of South Africa (AASA) since October 2019.

Willem has a long history of successfully leading large companies in South Africa, many of these through difficult economic circumstances. He is a person of great strategic ability and insight, and he brings a wealth of business experience and knowledge to the AASA. He is a highly-regarded and proven leader with an excellent pedigree in management.

Willem has a strong financial background having served in several senior financial positions including as Chief Financial Officer.

Previous positions he has held include: Financial Manager at Millennium Entertainment Group Africa – VCR – Trutone (1998); Financial Manager at Johnnic Communications – GDC – Gallo Properties (2000); Senior Financial Manager at AVUSA – Nu Metro Cinemas (2002); Executive: Finance at AVUSA – YELALA (2010); Chief Operations Officer at Times Media Entertainment – Retail Operations (2011); Chief Operations Office at Times Media Entertainment (2013); Chief Executive Office at Pervana (Pty) Ltd (2015).

Director: Nico Crous

Nico Crous joined the AA as a chartered accountant in 1995, after working for the South African Revenue Services. Initially, his role was to provide financial management support to the commercial business units as assistant general manager. When the finance divisions were merged in 1997, Nico assumed the role of AA Management Accountant.
In 2001 he became Divisional Manager: Finance and in 2004 was promoted to his current role as a Director.
